The premiere of the film “Who's saving whom?" on Wednesday the 11th February 2015 was a terrific success.
The film debuted in many hundred film theaters and other venues in all of Europe to full and overflowing audiences with many exciting discussions.

„Who is saving whom?" is a bottom-up film. A film that belongs to all of us. A film that concerns all of us. This is why as many people as possible ought to see it as soon as possible at as many locations as possible. Let us now plan together for more such movie events!

We need your organisational support!

First of all, we would like to thank our up to over 2000 contributors from five countries as well the numerous organizations that supported us. Without their help, „Who is saving whom" could not be made! But in order to put the subject of the failed crisis management policy higher on the agenda and explain it with the help of the film, we need more than your monetary contribution, namely your organisational support. Let us now plan together for more such movie events!

Together we can achieve a lot!

The concept of as many decentralized movie screenings as possible as a means for political information and mobilization was successfully applied in our previous films „German railways coming up for auction" and „Water Makes Money". Many dedicated people, NGOs and citizens' initiatives were networking In the framework of numerous events. Local bases were created, leading to stimulated discussions. Many individual pieces thus lead to an important area-wide support for the movement against the privatisation of the German railways, as well as against the privatization of the water supply in Italy, Greece, Berlin and other places. These successes do reassure us!

Together we are strong!

Besides that, the power of the public view also protects us from imminent censorship: Already before the opening night of „Water Makes Money" we were tipped off that Veolia – one of the major private global water enterprise – would attempt to prohibit the screenings through an interim injunction. Public pressure and the commitment of many hundreds of dedicated people, active groups and citizens' initiatives could prevent this!

We hope that this film also has a similar effect!

My movie screening

„Who is saving whom?" in movie theatres ...

Screened on a good quality big screen and in excellent visual and audio quality, films are able to develop their whole visual power. If the movie screenings are advertised early enough – in the event notes of newspapers, but also through posters and flyers in the movie theatres – we can awaken the interest of a broader public that might not yet be politically sensitized. Please contact the movie theatre near you and show your interest in one or more screenings of „Who is saving whom?". Take the opportunity to co-determine your local movie program – many movie theatres are grateful for suggestions of their public.

... or anywhere else ...

If a screening in a cinema should not be possible or if the theme of the film would be able to reach a bigger public anywhere else, movie screenings may certainly be done in other suitable locations (equipment, sound), such as your local corner store, union or club houses, schools, community centres, or simply your favourite café. Films can be screened (almost) anywhere! Which would be your favourite location to watch the film?

... followed by a discussion.

A screening of „Who is saving whom?" is especially effective – and thus also the spread of information and concerning the negative consequences of the crisis management policy - if the film is followed or accompanied by a informative meeting or a discussion . Are there people in your surroundings that are familiar with the subject of bank rescue, loss of democracy or dismantling of the welfare state? Do invite guests that are able to talk about the situation, exchange experiences and make new contacts!

Your event will motivate others!

Please let us know where and when you would like to organise your opening night – on the day or also any time thereafter. The faster and the more complete our online-map of opining events is filled, the longer the list of events on our website, the bigger the momentum that our campaign will get – motivating more people that want to get involved !

Create publicity!

There is still some time left until opening night, but here are already some hints for the final stage.

Do advertise and promote your film screening already now, with the following material:

  • Film posters in different sizes, to display in movie theatres, shops, cafés, club houses etc.
  • Flyers that allow you to personalize your own event info (date, location, organizer, speaker, discussion partners etc.)

As soon as your event is fixed, we will announce it for you on www.whos-saving-whom.org. Please do send us therefore all relevant information as soon as possible. This allows us to create a larger coverage and mobilization. And first and foremost, with a transnational opening night – in Germany and Spain, France and Greece – , we send a signal against the current crisis management policy.

Hints for later mobilization actions ...

In the forefront of the opening date, we provide you with press material and a trailer. Please use the materials to alert your local newspaper, the city magazine or a radio station to your event! Use the E-Mail-distribution lists of local clubs, unions and institutions. Approach local groups, write to your contacts and distribute flyers during events you are attending. This way you not only attract more public, but you gain supporters and co-promoters!

After the opening night ...

it would be especially nice if the film would stay top of mind through word of mouth marketing, especially if the local press would have written about it. In order to use the public interest and to involve those that did not have a chance to participate the first time, it makes sense if the film can be found in the programme of a cinema or other location even after the opening date.

Elucidation is human dignity. Let us take care of it together!
